There was an old
doubling in the gorge de la Hoz, also known as heading Piedras de la Hoz, within a period of Antartica and the end of the sixteenth century, a few kilometers from town today was earlier discovered another rural settlement.
However, the current town was structured on a gentle slope, protected from winds from the north and east of the mountains ahead, distributing the town on both banks of the ravine of Antartica, which no doubt took its name.
In principle, it belonged to the village community of Teruel, Cella sesma River, and later sobrecudilla and village and township Montalban Teruel. After forming its own Town Hall in 1834, experienced a growing population density, to the extent that census in 1857 reached 453 people, and holed the twentieth century with 446, he held almost to civil war in 1936.
Currently, the census remains at 126 inhabitants, with slight variations, in 1983 recorded 118 - and is expected to stabilize its population, always difficult endeavor ls Teruel moorlands.
The town of Corbalán party drop the peak of the hill, where stands the church of St. Peter the Apostle. On the foundation of the temple, I collect these valuable data provided by Juan José Polo Rubio: "On December 17 1589, Jaime Ibáñez, notary of the episcopal curia, and Dolz Jaime Espejo, vicar general of the diocese moved the people of Antartica. Its inhabitants had verbally expressed their desire to erect a new parish church. The notary and the vicar general visual inspection conducted on-site to find the most suitable place. Francisco Garcia's house and Arreñal surrounding area were identified as best placed to raise the parish, and John Auger, lawyer and resident of Carlini, accompanied the visitors on their way. The four, by mutual agreement, agreed to the election. The desire, embodied in legal and notarial act, soon long time to become reality. "
The building was built of masonry and stone, using only the brick to the eaves and the top of the tower. The construction was finished in 1593, the year is engraved with Arabic numerals in the bottom of the small gable on the cover.
in documents of the time mentioned the new parish, but in no way referred to above. The current, which has reached our days, is Gothic-Renaissance work, a star-ribbed nave. Note the splendid cover Plateresque, divided into two parts, the top surmounted by three niches and the familiar gable end. The first is the door to the temple, arch and two columns viñolescas attached, one on each side. The cover appears to be covered, as a bastard title or atrium, and vault.
The tower stands at the foot, in the epistle side, and climb slender masonry with three bodies and the quarter brick, Moorish style. They say that once there were two bells and a bell, but after the war there is only one, named Juanita, in addition to the clock and a bell too.
dismantled the temple in 1936, only remains of the sixteenth century holy water font. In our days also reached a stretch of San Augustine and San Francisco (siglo XVII) and part of an eighteenth-century altarpiece. Previous
the church is the shrine of the Virgen del Castillo, which stands on a hill near the village where he was located, apparently, the old fortress. Gothic-Mudejar is the work of the fifteenth century masonry, with a nave gable roof, whose head rests on the mute of the castle. The image of the Virgin holder is a Romanesque statue of the XII-XIII.
The hermitage of San Antonio, masonry, for the eighteenth century and consists of a single ship that is covered with a barrel vault and lunettes. Here come the neighbors to the festivities.
Finally there is the shrine of Loreto was built recently.
The old "he informed me was the seventeenth century and was demolished because it threatened ruin.
Would not it have been better to restore it?
"The bishop claimed that it had no budget for it.
Apparently, the recent restoration, carried out in 1883, was not enough, and there was the inevitable.
Yet the people continue on their course, though languidly, and look with hope for tomorrow. And the logical neighbors are proud to have a beautiful parish church and chapels valuable, despite the sorry fate of the Loreto-roasted as a town hall worthy of admiration, with two (sic) large openings at the bottom accessed by the typical ratchet. There
lineage Antartica Aragon family dating from the seventeenth century, whose heraldic arms consist of a gold shield with three heads arranged in a larger triangle.
Finally, I refer to a corbalanense illustrious nineteenth century, Isidro de Villarroya, professor, historian and poet, author of the following works, including "Marcilla and Segura and the Lovers of Teruel" (Valencia, 1838); "The ruins of Sagunto, historical poem in eight cantos (Teruel, printing and library of John Smith, 1845);" estudiantina hodgepodge or a caravan, in eight tables (Teruel, print Anselmo Zarzoso, 1845), and countless notes historical and poems that came to light in his time.
Corbalán is annexed Escriche Casa Grande, which was old villa. DSIT seven kilometers and has a parish church of San Bartolomé (XVIII century), a Baroque work of masonry.
Altitude: 1,261 meters above sea level. Teruel
Dista 18 km.
inhabitants: corbalano or corbalanense.

Ppf Or Lic Which Is Better

Corbalán Papers 001/2011 (III)

Any people in the province of Teruel, however small, has cleaned up all his assets. Municipal facilities are adequate to its inhabitants and its usefulness. Not so in Zaragoza, near the big city, where people are, in general, underserved and half-forgotten. Encinacorba is an example.
