A change for change
1st. BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE FOR THE CONTEST:
Association with height in recent years has contributed significantly to the art of comics in our country by encouraging the creation and reading because it is libertarian expressions, accessible and easily understood. The expression maximum of these actions is the International Meeting of Comics Cartoons with height which is held every year in our country.
Solon Foundation, following the vision of Master Walter Solon Romero, has been developing cultural activities, a tradition of society, social engagement and defense of human rights. In this sense, one of the problems addressed from different areas is the issue around climate change is the result of a pattern of consumption and an economic model that are leading the world to destruction.
According to many scientific investigations, the main causes are the activities industrial overuse of automobiles, the indiscriminate felling of trees, the abuse of natural resources have generated an imbalance in nature that is manifested in the rapid rise of temperature at a general level which brings extreme events, such as drought, floods, hurricanes, etc. We show
these changes in everyday life, it is hotter years ago, including exposure to sunlight can be harmful, the rainy season are no longer regular and sometimes excessive rains in some parts of our country suffer from permanent floods while in other places are suffering from water shortages. In La Paz, the main evidence is the disappearance of our glaciers that are melting, and some have almost disappeared as the Chacaltaya, causing water shortages in the coming years.
The seriousness of this problem is that these changes affect more people in less developed countries and their poorest people in rural areas because these changes will mean a radical change in the way we relate to nature as their customs are subject to the agricultural cycle and therefore the weather patterns could generate a crisis in the food production and also in the mechanism of survival of these people. In contrast, those who are responsible for pollution and predation are the most prepared to face these extreme events.
Against this background we can not stand still, you need to tell our stories. For this reason the Solon Foundation Bullets with height in the framework of the International Meeting to convene Cartoons Cartoon Contest Young, A change for change with the intention of creating a process of reporting and awareness of these issues and promote a change in consumption pattern and demand a social transformation in the world.
2nd. TOPICS OF THE PARTICIPANTS:
The theme of the competition revolves around the issue of climate change: The causes causing it, questioning the consumer model, its impact on different cultures and lifestyles, the responsibility of developed countries, their impact on access to water and food, sustainable upgrading of knowledge, care of the world and respect for life.
everyone can participate sl @ s youth, who lies on the city of La Paz and El Alto, between 13-18 years, individually or in groups representing schools and colleges, neighborhoods, etc.
3rd. PRESENTATION OF PAPERS:
The presentation of the work must meet the following requirements: a.
The cartoon may have 1 to 3 pages, letter size (28cm X 21cm..)
b. The cartoon should be only in black and white. C.
The story should include the author's pseudonym in the back. D.
The cartoon must be submitted in an envelope with a photocopy of the identification document and a sheet with personal information such as full name (or names in the case of several participants), age, place of birth, school, telephone number, address, e- mail, etc. E.
It must be supported within the definition of story (see attached page: "What is a cartoon?)
The cartoons may be submitted in an envelope labeled: Cartoon Contest Young, A change for change from Monday to Friday during office hours until 27 April 2008 in the offices of the Solon Foundation, Avenida Ecuador N º 2519 almost esq. Belisario Salinas Sopocachi area of \u200b\u200bthe city of La Paz.
4th. The Jury:
The jury will be appointed by the organizers of the contest and will be composed of persons related to the world of comics and knowledgeable professionals in the subject.
The jury's decision is final and awards to the winners will take place in a public ceremony during the International Meeting of Comics and Cartoons with height between 3 and May 19, 2009, at the National Museum of Art.
5th. AWARDS:
will be a selection of 10 to 15 stories to be published and distributed in schools of the participants and during the Blue October campaign nationally and internationally. All participants will be rewarded with public recognition expressed in a Diploma. In addition, the fifteen papers selected by the jury will receive a set of publications of the organizers.
